Fashion stockings

Fashion stockings, sometimes referred to as hose, is a close-fitting, variously elastic garment covering the foot and lower part of the leg. Stockings vary in color and transparency. In modern usage, stocking specifically refers to the form of women's hosiery configured as two pieces, one for each leg. The term hold-ups and thigh highs refers to stockings that stay up on their own, while the word stockings is the general term or refers to the kind of stockings that need a suspender belt (garter belt, in Am English), and are quite distinct from tights or pantyhose (Am English).

Fashion stockings: Preference for thigh high fashion stockings

Thigh high fashion stockings are often perceived to be more preferable to pantyhose for various reasons, such as aesthetics, sexual spontaneity, erotic intent, health, cleanliness and personal convenience. Let's see how thigh highs score on each of these points. Thigh highs have high aesthetic value because of the garters, lace, top fashion statement, applique, exposure of the thigh and complexity. Thigh highs give easier and quicker access to the genital area and therefore enhance sexual spontaneity. The message from the thigh highs stockings is very bold. Further as more detail is involved, a perception of erotic intent is raised. Thigh highs are good for health and cleanliness because it causes less sweat, provides more ventilation and helps in reduction of fungal and bacterial challenge. Finally thigh highs offer great personal convenience as it is considerably easier and quicker to go to the toilet while wearing thigh highs stockings.

Fashion stockings: Tights or pantyhose

These stockings called as tights give a complete cover from the toe to the waist. Tights are also known as pantyhose in some parts of the world and they provide the most complete hosiery covering, reached from toe to waist. Two tubes of sheer fabric (usually nylon) are sewn closed at the toe, but are seamless up the legs. At the crotch the tubes are opened out and sewn together to cover the abdomen. A gusset is usually added for the crotch region itself.

Fashion stockings: The usage of Tights

As I said before, the thigh highs are considered as the sexiest and passion inducing type of stockings. On the other hands the tights are more of a conventional and passive type of stockings. Let's see the usage of tights and understand why it is so? Tights are normally worn over underclothes, although some modern varieties feature a cotton gusset, so that underwear can be omitted, usually under close fitting garments. Tights may also feature strengthened stretch panels to hold in stomach, buttocks and upper thighs. Because of these features tights are considered as popular, low-hassle form of hosiery. However the biggest drawback is that they are generally considered to be passion killers because of the low sexual aesthetic value as well as the limitations of easy accessibility to the genital area.

Fashion stockings: Hold-ups are stockings with extra fibres

These stockings called as the hold-ups are designed in such a manner that they remain as a standalone without the need of any suspenders but it has its own limitations in terms of convenience for usage. Hold ups were trumpeted as modern technology's solution to the problems of stockings. Extra helpings of modern fibres like Lycra mean that these stockings don't need suspenders! That's the theory anyway. In practice the increased elasticity can still cut painful strangulation lines into your thighs, and cannot be guaranteed to stay up in a time of crisis. Their efficacy can also be affected by - how to put this delicately? - the girth of the thighs wearing them. Some legs put a lot more strain on the gravitational forces than others.

Fashion stockings: "Knee-highs" stockings

Are you looking for something for office going purpose? If yes then the knee-highs under the trousers may be of consideration. Let's accept the fact that nobody is likely to find knee-highs sexy, but they are the modern working woman's friend. Knee-highs sometimes called 'pop socks' are like miniature stockings, made of the same sheer material, but finishing, in the style of knee socks, in that useful notch at the top of the calf, just below the knee. These are easy to put on and cool and comfortable to wear under trousers. Knee highs should never, never be worn with any skirt shorter than a full-length crinoline3, and only then if you're not planning on dancing. The sight of drooping knee-highs through the split of a mid-length skirt is unimaginable.

Fashion stockings: "Ankle-highs" stockings

How low the stockings can go? Yes we even have the ankle-high stockings. You can work this one out for yourself. Ankle-highs are like ankle socks, but made out of the usual sheer hosiery fabric. There are supposed to provide an even lower coverage option than knee-highs, but as there is no handy notch in which to hook them, ankle highs have a nasty habit of sagging - and hosiery sags far more spectacularly than socks. If the trouser ride up when the wearer sits down, it is all too easy to see the top of the hosiery and the bare, mottled shin above. It is highly not recommended.

Fashion stockings: Fashion Shoeliners or Footsocks

So as you can see we even have something shorter than the ankle high stockings. Fashion shoeliners or footsocks are the briefest hosiery items. They are designed to cover the sole of the foot and the toes, but end halfway up the foot, so they have the same basic outline as an open-fronted, 'court' shoe. They are worn by women who want to go bare-legged, but cannot stand the sticky feeling of shoes against bare skin. Whatever the shape of shoe, they have a tendency to show above the edge of the leather, which can look pretty weird.

Fashion stockings: Guidelines for wearing stockings

To start with the most important point is to match your stockings with the shoes that you are going to wear. Further the color of the stockings is very important. Let's start with the shoes first. As I said before, one of the things to always remember is that your stockings should match your shoe and that your shoe should never be lighter than your stocking. Coming to the color of the stockings, probably nine times out of ten you can get away with a nude sheer stocking; that particular shade goes with just about anything and can give your legs a nice smooth look. Depending on the occasion, you could want other kinds of nylons. There are stockings that are more shimmery for parties or nighttime events, black ones for concerts or particularly fancy affairs, and there's even super sheer for a look that really just evens out your legs without looking like you have stockings on at all.

Fashion stockings: The size of your stockings

The size of your stockings is important for comfort as well as the sexy looks that you want to flaunt. Therefore know for sure what size you wear and always check the sizing on the particular pair you're looking at to make sure you really are buying the right size for that particular brand. If you buy the right size in a quality brand, you shouldn't have any problems finding the right stockings for you. Nylons don't have to be uncomfortable and unbearable—wear them to highlight your legs and give you an extra boost of confidence!

Fashion stockings: Guidelines for cleaning smelly stockings

Put the stockings in a basin with enough water to cover them and add about a table-spoon of baking soda. Let the stockings soak for two hours. Then take them out, wash them, and you won’t smell a thing. Nothing. They’re amazingly clean!!
