Marriage in Same Sex! Can it be accepted by the Society?

Today people and society are accepting new ideas and developing newer thinking which are helpful for modernization and improving the Social and Economic status of people in the country. India is slowly but steadily moving in this direction of opportunities and prosperity.

But on the other side there is a down turn to these changes also. India as a country is famous and proud of its ancient culture and value systems. But with the constant bombardment of Television, Internet and Films in today’s day to day life, the mindset and attitude of today’s younger generation is changing in a rapid fashion which are deviant from the Culture and Value system of this country.

This is leading to lot of problems in the society like Separate Family System, Rape, Sexual Harassment at work place, Love marriages and subsequent Divorces, Live-in-relationships and Marriage between same sex.

Some year s back, people used to say to their children, ”beta shadi aapni Jatwali Ladki se hi Karna” but today they say “please beta shadi Ladki se hi Karna “

Marriage is actually a divine ceremony between two people who are from opposite sex. This is essential for procreation and building a family. How same sex marriage fits into all this is a big question that needs to be asked?

Parliament has not given permission for same sex marriage till now but Law is an instrument of social change and law making happens when majority of the people “agree” on a particular concept or idea. Therefore when more and more people start accepting the concept of same sex marriage, then maybe in the future, Parliament would pass a law legalizing same sex marriage. If this happens in India, then the Culture and Moral Values of this country would be in danger.
