Motherhood bliss

Motherhood bliss is the ultimate form of joy a woman experiences in her life but motherhood is also a tale of supreme sacrifice. In fact the greatest of the great battles are fought in the mother’s heart. These battles are waged deep and in silence throughout her turbulent life and in the end she goes down as silently as she fought her battles. It is said that “about every true mother there is sanctity of martyrdom-and when she is no more in the body, her children see her with the ring of light around her head.” Motherhood is one of the most important contributions women make to her family, her society and the nation. The relationship of the mother and her child is that of peace and innocence. It is also about protection and education.

Motherhood bliss: Mother as the protector

The mother invests one with protection and there is no refuge or shelter like the mother. There is also no defense like the mother. The children are the extension of their mother’s own body as they are created and carried in her womb before birth. She is the reason and the chief cause of the birth of her children and she is the one who looks after and nurtures her children to adulthood. The existence of the mother invests one with protection and the reverse deprives one of all protection. There is no mode of life that is superior to serving one’s mother.

Motherhood bliss: The power of creation

Motherhood is the ultimate form of creation as life itself is borne out of this miraculous phenomenon. Even though a woman bears the suffering by the pains of labour, she forgets them in the joy of creation. A mother is the creator, the maker and the leader of the highest order. The deities of creation, learning and prosperity are represented in the images of beautiful women, as motherhood incarnate. A married life, where the wife enjoys the respect of her husband and authority over her household, holds as much dignity as the most esteemed of careers, because it gives her the opportunity to create, preserve and protect the most precious possessions of her country, namely, the children of the nation.

Motherhood bliss: The divine transformation

The experience of transformation into motherhood is a privilege reserved exclusively for women by nature. The transformation is indeed divine as motherhood epitomizes supreme devotion and sacrifice. The love and devotion towards the infant or child are grown from the seeds of innocence and there is no cunningness, scheming and selfish motives in this relationship. The sublime qualities of motherhood include self-less devotion, unquestioning love and complete self-abnegation. Motherhood also represents perfect purity and loyalty.

Motherhood bliss: The reverence

The central core of a family as a unit is the Mother. For the future happiness and well being of the child the central core must function as the harbinger of strength. Mother’s time with children guided by love, nurturing and wisdom is necessary for the development of a well-balanced individual with solid psychological foundations. The mother is more worthy of reverence than father or teacher according to certain cultures and traditions. From the point of view of reverence due, a teacher is tenfold superior to a mere lecturer, a father a hundredfold to a teacher, and a mother a thousand fold to a father. It is indeed a privilege of a mother to bring up her children, to help them to develop their distinctive gifts in terms of their physical, mental, ethical and spiritual being.

Motherhood bliss: Women the greatest conservators and missionaries of human civilization

The life giving potential in itself makes women as the greatest of conservators of human existence. Further they are the primary conservators of traditions and cultures as they pass it on to the next generation through their children. They represent unconditional and selfless love and through their being as women and mother they become the great missionaries of human civilization.

Women need to recognize the essence of womanhood and motherhood which so naturally exists in them. They need to bring out these creative and generative powers bestowed in them by nature in all walks of life especially their professional life. Motherhood bliss is in fact the joy of creation and creative and generative living is possible in all walks of life.
