Womens Health Questions
Womens health questions are a major topic of discussion in many internet forums, magazines, TV shows, and in households across the world. Although there have been tremendous strides in healthcare over the last century, womens health questions are still as important as they always have been. It may be universally acknowledged that women usually put their health concerns on the backburner while caring for a family or pursuing careers or an education. It is for the good of all, not just women, but society as a whole, if womens health questions are addressed from the beginning instead of being allowed to fester, as prevention is always better than a cure. In this article, we will try to address some of the most common womens health questions; however please remember to consult with a medical professional for a more in-depth understanding of your health problems. Empirical evidence shows that the majority of women’s health questions center around menstruation and its related problems. Some of these are amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, and abnormal uterine bleeding. Of these, amenorrhea is defined as the lack of menstrual periods and can either include girls who have not started menstruating by the age of 15 or women who have had regular periods but suddenly find they haven’t had a period for more than 90 days at a stretch. This could be due to a range of reasons, from pregnancy, eating disorders, stress, over-exercising, excessive weight loss, to lactation. Sometimes it can even be caused by polycystic ovarian syndrome, which causes hormonal problems that can cause ovaries to stop producing normal amounts of estrogen. In all such cases, it is advisable to immediately consult with your doctor for further diagnosis and treatment. Dysmenorrhea, on the other hand, is painful or severe cramps during periods, caused by excessive prostaglandins, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids. If none of these are involved, the pain can usually be relieved by taking painkillers or using a heating pad. If your pain is still not relieved with such measures, the best thing would be to see your doctor. Abnormal uterine bleeding is any bleeding that is not in the realm of normal menstrual bleeding. This can be caused by hormonal changes associated puberty or menopause, uterine fibroids, polyps, or sometimes even cancer. If you do have any abnormal bleeding, it would be wise to consult with your doctor at the earliest. The other major category of womens health questions typically center around cancer. Where womens health questions regarding cancer are concerned, breast cancer, cervical cancer top the list. In breast cancer, the cancerous starts usually start their mutation the mammary glands and form a mass called a tumor. This can spread to other parts of the body. Nowadays, increasing advancements in healthcare, breast cancer can be detected early by screening mammograms and more and more women are getting healed and are in remission from breast cancer. Regarding cervical cancer, it is a tumor that affects the lower portion of the uterus, the cervix, which forms a canal that opens into the vagina. This is usually caused by the human papillomavirus, which is transferred from person to person by genital contact, and women who are have reduced immunity, HIV, or are smokers are more vulnerable to it. Two vaccines that can protect women from it are Cervarix and Gardasil. It is advisable to get Pap tests done regularly and practice safe sex as preventive measures.
